TV guides
ArtFrameRemote works with TVs and streaming devices that run Google TV or Android TV. This library has a guide for each brand and device we support, plus the platform background they share.
Start with the general walkthrough, Setting up your TV. Then open your device’s page below for its exact menus, quirks and fixes.

1. Find out what your TV runs
ArtFrameRemote needs Google TV or Android TV. Many brands sell the same TV with different systems, so check the TV itself rather than the box it came in.
| You see… | It runs… | Supported? |
|---|---|---|
| A home screen with For you, Live, Apps tabs and a Google Assistant mic | Google TV | ✅ Yes |
| A home screen of app rows with a Google Play Store app, and Settings › Device Preferences | Android TV | ✅ Yes |
| Roku logo, Roku Channel Store, “Roku TV” on the bezel | Roku TV | ❌ No |
| Fire TV home screen, Settings › My Fire TV | Fire TV (Fire OS / Vega OS) | ❌ No |
| VIDAA home screen (common on Hisense, Toshiba) | VIDAA | ❌ No |
| Titan OS or Saphi (Philips) | Titan OS / Saphi | ❌ No |
| Tizen (Samsung), webOS (LG), tvOS (Apple TV) | Their own systems | ❌ No |
Sure? On the TV open Settings › System › About (Google TV) or Settings › Device Preferences › About (Android TV). An entry called Android TV OS version or Android TV OS build confirms it. See Android TV and Google TV.

Not supported
not-supported.md explains why Fire TV, Roku, Samsung, LG, VIDAA, Titan OS and Apple TV can’t run ArtFrame, and what to do instead.
3. Platform background
These apply to every supported device; the brand guides link to them.
- Android TV and Google TV: the difference, versions by year, and why it matters.
- Connecting your Mac: developer options, the two kinds of debugging, the “Allow” prompt, pairing codes, and revoking access.
- Screensavers and power: how ArtFrame becomes the screensaver, timing, and the energy settings that can switch the screen off first.
- Network, privacy and troubleshooting: addresses that change, guest Wi‑Fi, VPNs, macOS Local Network permission, and what debugging lets a computer do.
4. Compatibility at a glance
See compatibility.md for the full table: connection method, screensaver method, known issues and verification status for every device.
How sure are these guides?
Each guide says at the top whether its steps were verified on hardware or compiled from documentation. Menu names vary with model year and firmware, so where sources disagree, the guides say so instead of guessing. If your TV differs, tell us what you see and we’ll update the page.
