What ArtFrame sends
Nothing, unless you say yes. This page says exactly what happens if you do.
Anonymous usage (optional)
ArtFrameRemote, the Mac app, asks once whether to share anonymous usage. It's off unless you chooseShare anonymous usage, and you can change your mind at any time in Settings › Privacy.
If you opt in, the app sends a short summary to artframe.mlynn.dev about once a week. It contains:
- a random ID made when you opted in, not tied to you, your Mac or your TV (you can reset it);
- the versions of ArtFrameRemote, the TV app and macOS, and whether the Mac is Apple silicon or Intel;
- which days you opened the app;
- how setup went: which steps you reached and, if one failed, a short error code;
- the TV's maker, model and Android version (the same details a TV report shows);
- a rough picture of your setup: how many TVs, roughly how much art (as a range), and which information-screen mode, widgets and look you use.
Your rough area and the map
When a summary arrives, the site looks up the city and country of your internet connection, the way most websites can. It keeps the city and country and a point rounded to about 25 km, then discards the IP address. Your Mac's Location Services are never used.
That point may add a dot to a map of where ArtFrame is used. A public version of the map only shows areas where several people use ArtFrame; anyone else is counted only in their country's total. To share usage without being on the map, turn on Leave me off the map in Settings › Privacy.
Never sent
- your name, email address, Apple ID or any account;
- your IP address (used only for the lookup above, never stored), your TV's network address, or serial numbers;
- your pictures, their file names, or what you search for when fetching art;
- your information-screen settings' contents: calendar links, places, market symbols or news feeds;
- your Unsplash key or your Sony TV's key.
The TV app sends nothing about you; it only fetches the weather, calendar, markets and headlines you set up.
Seeing and deleting it
Settings › Privacy › View What's Been Sent shows the last summaries, exactly as sent.Delete My Data removes everything stored for your ID from the site straight away (it drops out of the totals by the next day), then turns sharing off. Summaries from installs that stop sending are deleted after about 13 months.
TV reports
Report This TV is separate: you see every field before pressing Send. The TV's model and results appear on the site; notes and any email you add are seen only by ArtFrame's developer.
Who sees it
Only ArtFrame's developer, Michael Lynn. It's stored privately with Vercel, which hosts this site, and isn't sold or shared. Questions: mlynn.dev.
